The goal to fly to 132,000 feet seated on an open platform wearing space suits. Unfortunately despite several attempts it was finally abandoned following an irreparable tear of the balloon. - Breitling, the renowned aviation watch manufacturer, sponsored and/or assisted in a range of pioneering balloon record attempts. The global balloon flights between were the catalyst for the design and development of the iconic Breitling Emergency Watch with its integral distress beacon that transmits on 121.5 MHz.
